"If a big rock falls towards you,
it would be unwise to try to stop it
by fighting its falling momentum.
It is much more natural to step aside
and let the rock pass. It is just as simple if the rock is a huge boulder."
Iwama Ryu Aikido Karlskrona

Welcome to Iwama Ryu Aikido Karlskrona's web page!
Aikido is a martial art invented in the early years of the 20th century by a man called Morihei Ueshiba (known among Aikido users as the great master, "o-sensei"). In the 1930's the Ueshiba Hombou Dojo was founded in Tokyo, and has ever since been the world headquarters for Aikido.
The martial art was spread across the world after WWII, was brought into Sweden in the 1960's and was finally introduced in Karlskrona by Sten Johansson, who to this day continues to teach the fine art.
Our dojo can be found at Saltö. Bus line nr. 7 is the only bus that goes there. Get off the bus right after the bridge to Saltö and simply follow the road to the left, and you will find the dojo.

Do feel free to give Aikido a shot at our dojo, even if you do not speak Swedish. There are already non-Swedish speaking people training at our dojo - and it works just fine.
If you need any other information in English, feel free to contact us at nook@meistersoft.net, and we'll be happy to give it to you.
